In 1976 after a trip to Georgia, Dock C., who had went to a men's workshop there. He came back to Dayton, Ohio with the idea of starting one here. He talked with several men who he thought might be willing to help start one. They were Scott H., John B., Donnie B., and a couple more friends of his. Scott was to get a place for the weekend, Donnie would take care of making coffee and setting up, John was to talk to some more men and try to get them to come.
Scott got us a place in Hueston Woods, but it would have to be in January as that was a slow time for Huston Woods. There were some forty men at the first MW2. It was held January 21,22, and 23, it was one of the coldest day on record.
We can see that the first workshop was call MW2. The story is that Dock C. called it that, because the first one was in Georgia, and this one was the second . So it was called MW2, and the name stuck. There were some who said it was call Mid- West men workshop. Knowing Dock I would have to go with the first story. In any case, it is still called MW2.
